Early Spring?

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

This past Wednesday, February 2nd, while many were wondering when they’re power would be restored and if we’d seen the worst of the storm, we were also counting on the predictions of two prescient rodents.

111-83268

Groundhogs, to be specific.  Punxsutawney Phil of Pennsylvania and Buckeye Chuck here in Ohio, to call them by name.

February 2nd is Groundhog Day.

For those who are not familiar with the event, here’s the basics: if the groundhog, who is being closely watched by spectators, sees his shadow and retreats to his hole, we are doomed to six more weeks of winter.  However, if the little critter chooses to stay out, then an early spring is predicted.

Ridiculous?  Perhaps.  But, for those of us who have recently weather some of the worst that winter has to offer, we’re ready to believe in the early spring that was prognosticated by both famous groundhogs this year.

Here’s hoping they were right!

Ice, Go Away!

Ice Storm AftermathHello, and Happy Friday!

Yesterday marked the start of the Chinese New Year, and the year of the Rabbit. According to Chinese astrologers, this year will be calmer than last year. Last year was the year of the Tiger!

The Chinese calendar is one of the oldest calendars in the world, and we’re in year 4 of a 12 year cycle. According to things I’ve read today, this year will focus on the arts, family and love. Sounds good to me! Last year was a rocky and emotional year for me, so I’m very much ready to sit back and relax.

Spring is Coming!

Set of 2 Spring Flowers in Pots - 111-85914Hi there, and Happy Friday!

If you’re like me, you are getting a little sick of this snow and cold weather! Nothing frustrates me more than going outside in the morning to a car covered in snow and ice. My ice scraper has been working overtime!

Keep your heads up – there is a light at the end of this tunnel!

When I got home Monday, I walked up my walkway to my front door, and noticed that my motion lights didn’t come on. Of course, I instantly got annoyed and started thinking about how hard it would be to change the light with all of the snow and ice on the ground. (more…)

Long time Blossom Bucket, Inc. customer Exton Place in Exton, PA is no exception!

At left is a bustling, but not overly busy, display of designer Dan DiPaolo’s Christmas pieces, including several snowmen, Santas, and seasonal sweets!

First Snow!

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

first snow 1 - cLast Saturday morning, I woke up bright and early for a very rare weekend work day.  I was heading over to “The Bucket” for the final day of our annual Warehouse Sale.  I knew it had been below freezing over night, but the forecast called for moderate temperatures by afternoon.

So, imagine my surprise when, upon peering my sleep-slitted eyes out of the window, I was greeted by the sight of our first snow of the season!

It wasn’t much snow, and it didn’t last long, but it was a beautiful sight.  The snow washed the world in white, making everything appear clean and bright!

Winter without Snow?

"Let It Snow" Block - 108-82649We turned our clocks back last night.  It is official: Winter is knocking at our door.

Last week I was assisting a customer in Florida placing her Christmas order and she said “Snow items just don’t do well for us down here, we don’t have snow.”   It made me stop and think…

Winter without snow, how is that possible?

Spring has finally sprung???

With Daylight Savings time and the official “First day of spring” March 20th getting near, I can only hope that we have seen the last of the white stuff. But then again, this is Ohio. The land of 4 season changes in one day.

IMG_2084Hello, and Happy Friday!

Can you believe it’s going to be MARCH next Monday?! Seriously guys, this year is just flying by! My nephew is about to be 2 whole weeks old! It blows my mind.

If you know anything about my family, it’s that we are very close and that we love games. I don’t know if there is any month during the year that the whole gang doesn’t get together, and it’s so awesome. I wouldn’t trade it for a thing in the world!
