Armed Forces Day in One Week!

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

One of my first tasks when I joined the Marketing department of Blossom Bucket, Inc. was to gather the most comprehensive list of holidays and occasions possible.

I was stunned at the number of things I found that I’d never known about!  For example, I did not know that the second Sunday in October is Clergy Appreciation Day or that March 30th is National Doctors’ Day.  I also didn’t know that the third Saturday in May in Armed Forces Day, which is one week from today, May 21st.

Oscar Day!

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

Today is one of my favorite days: Oscar Day!

I love award shows in general; everything from the glorified popularity contests to the ones that truly celebrate the arts and artists.  Like a little girl still dreaming of becoming a princess, I watch in rapt wonder as Hollywood royalty strolls, struts, and sashays down the red carpet in gorgeous gowns, stunning jewelery, and (of course) amazing shoes!

While Blossom Bucket, Inc. may not offer a little gold statuette in our lines, we do have plenty of other gifts that are just perfect for the leading lady or man in your life, or perhaps someone in the best supporting friend category!

Resolutions for 2011

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

Well, it is officially a new year.  It may just be me, but 2010 just seemed to fly by.

In retrospect, I don’t think that’s such a good thing.

Usually, the “new year” starts for me on my birthday.  That’s when I find myself evaluating where I am, where I want to be, and what I can do to get there.  That’s when I set goals and make resolutions.  But, I think I’m making an exception for 2011.

First Snow!

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

first snow 1 - cLast Saturday morning, I woke up bright and early for a very rare weekend work day.  I was heading over to “The Bucket” for the final day of our annual Warehouse Sale.  I knew it had been below freezing over night, but the forecast called for moderate temperatures by afternoon.

So, imagine my surprise when, upon peering my sleep-slitted eyes out of the window, I was greeted by the sight of our first snow of the season!

It wasn’t much snow, and it didn’t last long, but it was a beautiful sight.  The snow washed the world in white, making everything appear clean and bright!

Soaking Up Sci-Fi in Sunny San Diego!

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

Inside SDCC-0707cYou’ve seen several blogs over the past few weeks talking about vacation season.

Well, even as you read this, I am in sunny San Diego enjoying the gorgeous weather, and taking in the sensory overload that is Comic-Con International.

Now, for those of you who think that this is a geek-fest populated entirely with comic-book lovers, you are only partly correct.  Yes, there are thousands of comic book and graphic novel aficionados in attendance, however, the scope of Comic-Con expands each year, along with its attendance.

It’s the final week of July in Canton, Ohio, and the signs of impending celebration are everywhere.

Green Is the New Black

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

go-paperless_3There are a lot of new buzz words floating around these days, both in industry and the private sector. Moving speedily to the top of the list is “green.”

In business, in particular, green used to mean one thing: the almighty dollar. Today, though, green has become something very different, and yet not. These days, operating in the green is quickly becoming every bit as important as operating in the black. However, many businesses are facing the challenge of accomplishing both of these goals at once when, under certain conditions, these two ends seem mutually exclusive.

So, how does a business succeed economically and environmentally?
