Friday, July 30th, 2010

Hi there, and Happy Friday! Cupcakes!

This week has been such a long week! The Atlanta show has been over for a while now, and the other July shows are starting to wrap up. We’ve been so busy!

I’m always looking for fun ways to unwind and de-stress, and I decided that I would bake this week! As you know, I come from a long line of crazy bakers. Both of my grandmothers loved to bake, and so does my mom. We like to make things from scratch, and of course, we don’t know how to make just one

Pebbles

I have been raising peacocks for about 3 years now. They are so beautiful and I really enjoy them.

My adult peacocks, Fred and Wilma (I’m starting the Flinstone family), had 3 eggs last year and all 3 hatched in my incubator. The children’s names are Pebbles, Bam Bam, and Betty.

Unfortunately, Pebbles was hatched with a birth defect which affected her leg. She had surgery on her leg which worked for a while, but as she grew, her leg became damaged.

Soaking Up Sci-Fi in Sunny San Diego!

Inside SDCC-0707cYou’ve seen several blogs over the past few weeks talking about vacation season.

Well, even as you read this, I am in sunny San Diego enjoying the gorgeous weather, and taking in the sensory overload that is Comic-Con International.

Now, for those of you who think that this is a geek-fest populated entirely with comic-book lovers, you are only partly correct.  Yes, there are thousands of comic book and graphic novel aficionados in attendance, however, the scope of Comic-Con expands each year, along with its attendance.

New Kitchen Paint!Hi there, and Happy Friday!

As most of you know, I’m going to be moving soon! My one aunt has moved, and is going to rent me her old house. She’s giving me a fantastic deal, and it will help me continue to save to buy a house of my own! Since I know my landlord, I am able to paint this house any color I want! Here is a picture of the kitchen after my family helped me paint it. It’s such a sunshine color of yellow – I am happy the minute I walk into that room! The floor still needs replaced, but it’s such a bright room! I’m really looking forward to moving in and cooking and baking up a storm here. We didn’t even have to use drop cloths, since the floor is going to be replaced! Bonus!

Barn Rescue!

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Two years ago, we purchased a farm at auction that was in terrible disrepair.

We fell in love with the setting: the farm land, forest, and streams were calling our names!

Jim enjoys hunting, Zack enjoys riding four-wheelers, and I love animals!  Seemed like the perfect place for us, and I fell in love with the 1832 bank barn that needed some serous help.
