I have just returned from helping redecorate our Atlanta Showroom. Every year or two, Cindy, the owner, completely guts the showroom and starts over – creating a whole new look for our customers. It is a daunting task and takes tons of creativity and time. This year will not disappoint all our customers who stop by AmericasMart Building 2-701! it is one amazing reformation full of surprises and new product.

Update: Atlanta Showroom
Tuesday, October 25th, 2011The Birth Announcement!
Sunday, October 23rd, 2011The long awaited arrival has finally come to pass! Saturday Oct. 8 Canaan Mitchell entered this world at 9 lbs. 2 oz 22 in long. Yes, he is a big baby, but it is just more to LOVE!

Words can not explain the emotion felt when I held my grandson for the very first time. He is perfect in every way and I am totally touched by seeing my daughter become a mother and taking the nurturing roll so gracefully. Welcome Canaan……We are so glad you are here!
The Cradle that Poppa Made!
Tuesday, October 11th, 2011Well………at this point there is still no baby! My daughter has tried everything in the world to encourage my grandson to leave the warm cozy environment he is in and enter this cold, unfamiliar, loud world he will live in but nothing has helped. She has walked for miles, eaten all the foods that we’ve heard will start labor, tried a foot massage, and will still try anything that anyone suggests! I guess we should have learned by now that he will come when he is ready.
While waiting for his arrival my daughter has put the finishing touches on the nursery and has gotten everything ready for when that moment is finally here. There is one piece of furniture that I had to dig out of my attic for her. It has not been used for over 17 years. When I brought it to her she had tears in her eyes and it didn’t take long for her to find the perfect spot for its home. (more…)
I Love October!
Tuesday, October 4th, 2011October is here and all is well! This month is one of my most favorite times of the year – except for Christmas of course! The weather, the birthdays, the celebrations, the fall festivals…………..I just can’t say enough about this month!
To start the month off we celebrate my husband’s birthday on the 1st. This is always fun because the kids all migrate home to wish their Dad a happy birthday. That weekend is always full of laughter, food, and activity. I love it when my driveway is full of my children’s cars.
Toward the end of the month, 26th to be exact, my daughter Sarah will celebrate her 19thbirthday. And then, sometime this month (more…)
Kathy’s Eggplant Parmigiana Legend!
Tuesday, September 27th, 2011My daughter is expecting her first baby and is due any day now. Everyone knows that the last few weeks are miserable and seem to drag on for an eternity. Well, there is a restaurant in our area that has a recipe on their menu that claims to induce labor….thus the name, The Eggplant Parmigiana Legend.
The eggplant legend began not long after the restaurant opened 25 years ago. Several women noticed that after eating the eggplant dish they had their baby shortly thereafter. To date, more than 300 of the pregnant women customers who ordered the eggplant have given birth within 48 hours, and the restaurant dubs them the “eggplant babies.” There is a wall covered with pictures of these babies who claim this special title.
Since my daughter lives 8 hours away there was no chance of her having a dinner there, so I printed the recipe from their website and last night she ate herself silly of eggplant parmigiana. Her 48 hours have begun. I will keep you posted!

The Waiting Game!
Tuesday, September 13th, 2011
This past weekend I had the sheer joy of helping decorate my soon-to-be-born grandson’s nursery.
We traveled to North Carolina with just this goal in mind – get the nursery ready so Momma can relax this last month!
We spent the long Labor Day weekend painting, washing his teeny clothes, hanging pictures, and cleaning every crack and crevice in his room. And may I say –
EVERYTHING IS READY!!
Now all we have left to do is wait………… I hate this part.
Dislikes, Likes, and Loves
Tuesday, August 30th, 2011
Last week on my blog I talked about my irresistible desire to clean out my closets, my pantry, and my purse once I sent my daughter off to college. I’m still not sure where that came from, but this week I am into a whole different realm.
I have been thinking this week about those things that I absolutely love, those things that I strongly dislike (hate is a strong word here so I thought this would be a better choice of words), and those things that totally make my day!!
Today, right now, at this moment in time, I am totally loving:
- Macadamia nuts! I guess it’s just their size and crunchiness that’s makes them a perfect go-to snack. I can’t get enough of them right now!
- Open windows! I am loving the cooler air and being able to open the windows once again. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year.
Today, right now, at this moment in time I strongly dislike (very close to ‘hate’):
Cleaning Out My Purse
Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011I am really into several tasks these days. Once #4 left for college I have had this strong desire to start cleaning out closets, desk drawers, kitchen pantry…………….really anything that has been neglected over the years. I’m not sure why this desire hit me so suddenly ….maybe it’s because my nest is becoming empty and what’s left I want it neat and clean for goodness sake!
I decided to clean out my purse the other night and man……..it sure needed it. (more…)
