Pebbles

I have been raising peacocks for about 3 years now. They are so beautiful and I really enjoy them.

My adult peacocks, Fred and Wilma (I’m starting the Flinstone family), had 3 eggs last year and all 3 hatched in my incubator. The children’s names are Pebbles, Bam Bam, and Betty.

Unfortunately, Pebbles was hatched with a birth defect which affected her leg. She had surgery on her leg which worked for a while, but as she grew, her leg became damaged.

I walk at least two miles a day.  On my walk, I have made a couple of new buddies.   I talk to them every chance I get, and sometimes even stop to give them a “treat” from the other side of the fence.    This guy here waits for me to pass by every day wondering what I will be sneaking in to him from the outside.

calfIt is calving season at our house right now.

I love this time of year with little calves running around the fields. They are so cute and cuddly looking (DO NOT attempt to cuddle a calf: “kick” will have a whole new meaning to you)!

The process is so amazing and familiar. The mom’s know exactly what to do once they go into labor, the heifers ( first time mothers) may struggle a little bit at first, but it comes to them.
