Ways to Stay Fit Through Fall

Saturday, October 29th, 2011

Hi there, and Happy Saturday!

Unlike most people, the fall and winter months are my “power” months for weight loss and fitness. You’d think I’d lose weight more in the summer months, but I’m the exception! I think it probably has to do with my hatred of sweating. The only time I enjoy sweating is working out, in an air conditioned environment. Crazy, but true. But, I honestly enjoy sweating outside while it’s cooler out. I know, I know, I make no sense! But it’s just how I am.

Anyway, seeing as how I bought enough candy for about 100 trick or treaters and I’m thinking I’ll get less than 10 kids, I’m going to end up with a ton of candy on my hands. Dangerous! Here are some ways to burn some calories in cold weather: (more…)

Making Handmade Cards!

Friday, October 21st, 2011

Hi there, and Happy Friday!

Last night, my mom and I went to a card making class. I consider myself pretty crafty, and I always enjoy a new project, but I’ve never made my own greeting cards!

Cards

The gal that hosted the workshop had everything already cut out and set up for us when we got there. We only had to assemble the cards. We made three different kinds. One for Thanksgiving, one for fall, and then another for Halloween. Of course, the Halloween design is my favorite!

I’ve been thinking about making my own cards for Christmas. Do you make your own greeting cards? Do you have any advice for a newbie? I’d love to hear your hints and tips!

Have a great weekend,
Anne

Only A Little Over 2 Weeks Left!

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

The warehouse sale is only a little over 2 weeks away. It’s hard to believe that it is upon us again, but it is. Which means before you know it, the sale will be over and it will be the holidays along with the cold weather. I am still not sure where summer went! But we won’t worry about the past. Hope everyone is planning to attend this year’s warehouse sale. If not, clear some time on your calendar because you don’t want to miss it! Hope to see you all there!

The First Fall Tree

Saturday, October 8th, 2011

IMG_2652 (2)One of my favorite things about Autumn is the changing of the leaves in northeastern Ohio. Wow! What a beautiful site to see. There is one tree in particular that I have loved for years. It is one of the very first trees to turn to a beautiful orange yellow color. It happens to be directly across the street from Blossom Bucket, Inc. in a church lawn. I wanted to share its beauty! Every morning on my drive into work in the Fall I can’t help but smile. The peak season for fall foliage in our area is now through the middle of October. I plan on taking my drive in the country this weekend as the temperature is supposed to be in the high 70’s!

Enjoy your weekend!

What are your favorite things about Autumn? Have the leaves started changing in your area? We would love to hear about it!

I Love October!

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

October is here and all is well! This month is one of my most favorite times of the year – except for Christmas of course! The weather, the birthdays, the celebrations, the fall festivals…………..I just can’t say enough about this month!

To start the month off we celebrate my husband’s birthday on the 1st. This is always fun because the kids all migrate home to wish their Dad a happy birthday. That weekend is always full of laughter, food, and activity. I love it when my driveway is full of my children’s cars.

Toward the end of the month, 26th to be exact, my daughter Sarah will celebrate her 19thbirthday. And then, sometime this month (more…)

Time to Decorate!

Hi there, and Happy Sunday! IMG_2873

This weekend, I’ve spent quite a while doing some deep cleaning at home. This means moving furniture to run the sweeper, wiping down the cupboards, washing the baseboards, and putting away my spring and summer decorations to make room for my fall and Halloween! Of course, I LOVE Halloween. It just might be my favorite holiday, and I like to do it big! Here are some of my favorite Halloween decorations. You might recognize them – they are from the 2010 Dan DiPaolo line! I have several of the pieces, and I cover my TV stand with them.

How did it get to be Fall already?

Pumpkin Picking 2011!

It seems like last week that I was writing about summer fairs! Where does the time go? Last year my family went pumpkin picking with my daughter and son in law expecting their first child any day. As you can see from the picture, time has a way of flying by. That is their son, our grandson Luke, sitting on a pile of pumpkins. (more…)

New Fall Challenge!

Sunday, September 25th, 2011

Hi again, and Happy Sunday!

One of the things I love most about fall is the cooler weather, and being able to exercise outside and not end up a sweaty mess. I love hiking and walking trails, and I love the colors of fall!

In case you weren’t aware of this, today marks 3 months until Christmas. (more…)

Fall, Finally!

Tito in the leavesHi there, and Happy Friday!

I can’t believe it’s the official First Day of Autumn today. This year is really flying by! Unfortunately, that also means that I only have 6 more paychecks before Christmas… Yuck! Oh well! I’ve already started my shopping, so I feel good about that.

Here is an older picture of my dog Tito doing what he does best – being lazy in the yard! He loves jumping and running through piles of leaves right after I rake them up. He’s just like a kid!

Have a lovely fall weekend! It’s almost time for taking those long country drives to check out the changing leaves!
