Pebbles

I have been raising peacocks for about 3 years now. They are so beautiful and I really enjoy them.

My adult peacocks, Fred and Wilma (I’m starting the Flinstone family), had 3 eggs last year and all 3 hatched in my incubator. The children’s names are Pebbles, Bam Bam, and Betty.

Unfortunately, Pebbles was hatched with a birth defect which affected her leg. She had surgery on her leg which worked for a while, but as she grew, her leg became damaged.

Barn Rescue!

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Two years ago, we purchased a farm at auction that was in terrible disrepair.

We fell in love with the setting: the farm land, forest, and streams were calling our names!

Jim enjoys hunting, Zack enjoys riding four-wheelers, and I love animals!  Seemed like the perfect place for us, and I fell in love with the 1832 bank barn that needed some serous help.

Cindy’s April Fools’ Day

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Now that Zack is 14 and totally annoyed with his mother, I thought it would be great to play a few April Fools jokes on him.

I started his day with black oatmeal and green milk.

From there, his tooth paste had a great new flavor: salt!

Winter Show Retrospective

Monday, February 8th, 2010

As the winter show season is starting to wrap up, I think we can honestly say that 2010 is starting out on the right foot.

All of the shows have been very upbeat, with customers ready to buy new products. We did not hear the discouragement that we did last year.

I think everyone who made it through 2009 learned an awful lot. We learned how to operate leaner and be creative. I know it was certainly a challenging year to get through, but we can all be very proud that we have come out of it stronger and smarter!

Help Out Area Schools and Locally Owned Businesses!

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Here is a way to draw new people into your store: donate a project to the school art class!  Even if you’re not a business owner, you could always recommend it to a locally owned shop that you frequent!

Make it simple,  like drawings, simple stitching projects, etc.  Include a notice to be sent home with the kids letting parents know that the projects will be on display at your store.

This will give parents a great excuse to visit your store!  You can even give the kids a little bag of candy for coming to the store.

This type of project benefits the school, helping them to get materials and creative ideas that aren’t always readily available due to limited budgets, as well as helping the business get people into their store.  It’s a win-win situation!
