On Thursday, my son Caleb turned the Big 13! Watching him grow up, learning how to make good decisions, and taking on greater responsibilities has made this mommy so proud. His fun loving way of life is infections to everyone around him. I wasn’t bothered as much when my other kids turned 13, but for some reason, I can’t shake the overwhelming feeling of sadness. Caleb is my baby, and in my mind, he should not be allowed to grow up. Wishful thinking…
Happy Birthday to my NEW TEENAGER! I look at him every day and realize how blessed I am.
Have a great weekend!

Hi there, and Happy Friday!
If there is one thing I love about the holidays, it’s food. Yeah, it’s nice to hang out with family, but come on… There are some foods that you just wait for all year! My Grandma’s pumpkin roll is one of them. We only have it on Thanksgiving or Christmas, and we all love it. My cousin Katie and my brother have been known to violently fight over the last piece. Last year, she decided she was done making it. Slowly but surely, she’s trying to pass all of the baking to me. She bought me a pizzelle iron, and now this. Last weekend, she decided to give me, my mom, two of my aunts, and my cousin lessons in the art of pumpkin roll. It’s all from scratch, and made with love. We ended up making four rolls! Absolutely delicious!
I know how that the tradition will be kept alive in our family, and that’s the best lesson of all!
Now, on to make the pizzelles….
Have a great weekend!

Where has this year gone? Only 11 days before Christmas. Seems as we get older, time goes faster. This time of the year is very special to me. I love watching my two daughters get so excited anticipating Santa’s arrival. Each year, just after Thanksgiving, Santa send two helper elves (Elf on the Shelf) to our house to report back to him on how well our girls are behaving. Each night, they leave and come back in the morning to a new spot in the house. Every morning the girls get up excited to find where their “elf” is sitting when he returned from reporting to Santa at the North Pole. Having the elves around really helps to get them up and moving to get ready for school. Someone needs to invent an “Elf on the Shelf” for the rest of the year!
Have a great weekend,
Kelli

Hi there, and Happy Monday!
I can’t believe we have less than 2 weeks until Christmas! I plan on spending my week wrapping, baking, shipping, and shopping. My nephew has been getting into the spirit of things, too. When my brother lived in Wooster, my mom and I decorated his apartment for Christmas while he was at work one day. He made the mistake of giving me a key! My nephew found the tiny tree we had set up for my brother, and it’s now his new best friend. He wants to sit by it every day, wants the lights on constantly, and carries ornaments around all day long. Don’t worry, there isn’t any coffee in that cup! He just likes to pretend so once my sister in law and I are done with our drinks, we rinse out the cups and he has a good time with them.
With his “coffee” in one hand and his ornaments in the other, he seems to be all set for Christmas! He was “helping” his babysitter wrap some gifts and set them under their tree. After a minute, she realized he hadn’t come back from putting a gift under the tree. She found him with unwrapped gifts, trying to get toys out of the packaging. Yep, I’d say he’s definitely ready!
Are you ready for Christmas?
Have a great week!

This past weekend the OHSAA football playoff finals were held here in Massillon and Canton. There were three games on Friday, and three games on Saturday. On Friday, the games held in Massillon were at 11 AM and 7 PM. The 3 PM game was held in Canton. On Saturday, Canton hosted the 11 AM and 7 PM games, and Massillon had the 3 PM game. If you like high school football, this is a great weekend. With the times spread out, you can go to all six games. There’s only a twenty minute drive in between the two stadiums.
People come from all over to watch these games. With the nice weather, there were over fifteen thousand people at some of the games. If you can’t make the game, you can watch on live TV.
Yes; this is northeast Ohio and people love their high school football!
Have a nice and safe holiday!

I love Christmas for many reasons. I love how my house looks and smells right after I decorate. I love being in the crazy mass of humanity on Black Friday fighting for all the great deals. I love baking Christmas cookies and breakfast on Christmas morning. I love watching my children open their gifts… and I love watching them give gifts to others. I love the real meaning of Christmas… and sharing that with my family. There is so much to love about this season!
One of my most favorite things to do is watch all the great Christmas movies with my family. There are so many and new ones every year. I’ve listed 10 of the top movies of this season below:

My son Caleb has his first basketball game tonight! I am so excited I can hardly stand it. They have been working really hard since the beginning of November. It couldn’t be more perfect! So today I am sending a great big shot out to the Tuslaw Mustangs 7th Grade Basketball players! I will be there cheering you on to victory. Take it to the net, boys!
Have a great week!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! I sure did! Can you believe it is the first weekend in December? As I am writing this blog, we are having our first snowfall of the year. I don’t know that I am quite ready for it… but ready or not, it’s here!
I was fortunate to have off last week. I was able to get quite a bit of my Christmas decorating done. The lights are strung, the wreaths are hung, and the tree is done! My house has a warm and cozy Christmas feeling, and I love it. Especially at night, when all the lights in the house are off except for the Christmas lights. My favorite! I wish I could leave my Christmas lights up all year long. How is your Christmas decorating coming along? Have you started? Are you done? I would love to hear!
Have a great weekend!

Hi there, and Happy Friday!
Like many of you, I’m now trying to get my Christmas shopping done as soon as I possibly can, so I don’t have to rush out Christmas Eve to pick up gifts with the crowds of people that wait until the last minute! My brother and I used to wait until Christmas Eve and have a whirlwind of a shopping day, usually ending up buying tons of gift cards out of frustration. I’ve been put in charge of buying a specific toy for my nephew. I don’t understand how it works, but it’s a coloring or painting pad that he can draw on, and it won’t run off onto the carpet. I love buying him toys and books, puzzles and stuff like that. It’s funny that I spend the money, though. Right now, he gets a kick out of playing with little balls of scrap yarn from my Grandma. He likes to unravel them, twist up in it, and walk around trailing it from room to room. Then, he takes it back to his dad to wind back up. Here is a picture of the two of them on Thanksgiving. They look like a couple of cats, occupied with that yarn!
Is it crazy to spend the big bucks on toys for toddlers? Or should I just give him a cardboard box, some yarn, and a stack of scratch paper to rip up and spread around the house? What do you think?
Have a lovely weekend!
