Drink Umbrella DIY – 4th of July Flair!

DSC_0046-BVGc
Last week we showed you how to add festive flair to your Independence Day picnic utensil holders. In keeping with this theme, this week, you’ll see how you can create matching drink umbrellas for an extra splash of color at your celebration! For this project, you will need the following supplies:

  • •variety of patriotic cardstock
  • •regular or craft scissors
  • •skewers
  • •round template
  • •regular glue
  • •clear tape
  • •Your favorite Blossom Bucket item(s)

Step One:

Cut your cardstock into circles. You can use regular scissors to have a bit more fun with it by using scalloped or other crafting or scrapbooking scissors.

The size of your umbrellas will be dependent upon the size of the circle you use. We traced a circle onto our cardstock using a container lid as a guide, which was 3.5″ in diameter.

Step Two:

Cut a triangle (or pie slice!) out of your circle that is approximately 1/8th the size of your cardstock circle.

Bring the edges together to form a cone, allowing the edge to overlap a bit. Use a bit of regular glue or clear tape to hold the shape.

Step Three:

Insert your skewer up through the center of your cone, and apply a small amount of glue to hold it in place.

All that is left is trim the skewers to your desired length, and enjoy!

Accent your patriotic table with our “Uncle Sam with Star” designed by Twigs!

Have a happy 4th of July!
