May is a month of celebrations, both official and the ones we make for ourselves.
In the Midwest, children still mark May 1st, also known as May Day, by leaving small baskets of goodies at friends’ doorsteps, ringing the bell, and scampering away unseen.
On the second Sunday, we honor moms with Mother’s Day.
On Memorial Day, observed on the last Monday of the month, we memorialize the men and women who died in service to our country, though Memorial Day is.
And then, we usually add in a picnic or two or grill out to celebrate some special occasion that we are enjoying such as end-of-school parties, graduation, or showers for that June bride.
It all can add up to a very busy month!
