Graduation season is quickly approaching, and with it come graduation parties! However, one challenge of hosting a large celebration is a fun, creative to collect, keep track of, and transport all of the cards from well-wishing friends and family.
This week’s DIY project is your solution! Guests can simply slide their cards into this colorful collection box as they arrive, and you’ve got the perfect way to get them all home, as well as a keepsake from your celebration! For this project, you will need the following supplies:
Step One: |
You can select a box that is already finished in your party’s theme colors (we are using red, white, and blue) or an unfinished box that you can then paint. All of the materials for this project should be available at your local craft or party goods stores. After you’ve selected (and painted, if you choose) your box, cut a slot into the lid that will easily allow even large greeting cards to easily be inserted into the box. Make the slot toward the front of the lid so that you have room on the lid for additional decorations.

Step Two: |
The wood cutout that we used is “Celebrate.” In keeping with our colors, we painted the wood cutout white to help it stand out from the blue box. Set this aside to dry. Make a small hole in the box lid for your decorative picks, being sure to make it too close to the card slot. Insert the picks into the hole, then use a small amount of hot glue on the underside of the lid to secure them in place. |
Step Three: |
| For extra fullness and color, we supplemented the decorative spray with photos of the graduate and stars that we cut out from our red cardstock, and used hot glue to attach our “Celebrate” wood cutout to the picks. We also added the year to one of the stars.
We attached these items using wire to create photo holders, and fed the wire into the same hole used for the picks. All that’s left is to add your selected Blossom Bucket item(s). Our collection box features the “Dream Big” Grad from designer Barbara Lloyd’s GRAD-ulations Collection. Head over to BlossomBucket.com for additional items for this project. Whether you’re using it for a graduation, birthday, anniversary, wedding shower, or other celebration, Blossom Bucket, Inc. is sure to have the right items for you! |
