100 years old! Can you imagine?
While working in the showroom I have written many orders for Barbara Lloyd’s Birthday Celebration pieces, and many times I have thought about the person that would be blessed enough to receive this “100-An Oldie But a Goodie!” piece.
Well, let me introduce you to my aunt, Willie Mae Foster.
Aunt Willie was born May 21, 1910. She was the last of seven children, and her father died from pneumonia five months before her birth. She still lives by herself (except at night when several of us take turns and have a sleep over with her) and enjoys an active, healthy life. She still vividly remembers picking peas in her grandmothers pea patch, as an 8 year old girl, when a neighbor came running into their yard yelling, “THE WAR IS OVER, THE WAR IS OVER.” That was World War 1. She has seen a lot in her lifetime.
She enjoys going to Chick-Fil-A, playing bingo, shopping at the dollar store, and rarely misses a Sunday at church. Her favorite foods include popcorn, spaghetti, and ice cream. She is an amazing woman, and now is the proud owner of her very own Barbara Lloyd Birthday Celebration piece.
Blossom Bucket will have to get busy, and create an 101st birthday piece. I just know she will be here next year to receive it!
