Many students are on Spring Break this week or celebrated it recently. It’s hard to believe, but this means that the end of the school year is only 6-8 weeks away in many areas!
We also have National Teacher Day coming up on May 4th!
To show some appreciation for a special teacher, we have this week’s “Hall Pass” DIY!
For this project, you will need the following supplies:
Steps One and Two: |
Using the table saw, you will need to cut the 1/4″ plywood to 9.5″H x 4.5″W. Sketch out the correct size with your pencil and ruler before you begin cutting. You will also need to use the drill press to put a hole through the plywood. The hole should be centered approximately 1″ from the top of the “pass.”

Now it’s time to paint your hall pass. As with other projects, it may be useful to select your Blossom Bucket item first, so that you can use a coordinating color. The color we used is burnt amber. Next, type up your poem on the computer and print it out on the card stock you’ve selected. We just used a parchment look. Then, cut your poem out with your craft scissors, ensuring that it fits neatly on the hall pass, and glue it to the dried plywood. Attach your selected Blossom Bucket item with hot glue below the poem, and tie a length of jute through the hole at the top so the pass can be hung. We cut a piece of jute approximately 7″ long, so it is about 3.25″ long once it is looped and tied. The Blossom Bucket item we used is our “#1 Teacher” Block with Schoolgirl. Browse the School Days category on our website for other appropriate items! This is sure to make a touching gift for any educator!
