Merry Christmas!

Hello, Happy Friday, and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours!

This is one of my favorite days of the year, and it always has been.

When I was a kid, we always spent Christmas Eve at my house with my dad’s side of the family. shellsThat side of my family is pretty big, and we always had such a riot. Board games, wrapping paper fights (started by my dad, of course), stuffed shells, garlic bread and a ham, and just tons of fun. My cousins and I always play Catch Phrase, and it’s a tradition I love with my whole heart. All of us around one table, drinks all in the middle (so my brother doesn’t knock them over), and we all get our Irish tempers flaring and the noise level rises. My grandparents loved Christmas and we loved them, and I always start looking forward to Christmas Eve for the next year right away.

Christmas Day was always spent at home with our parents, opening gifts and letting the dog shred any and all wrapping paper left behind. Yes, Tito does this – he even opens his own gifts!

After this, we spend the afternoon with my Mom’s side of the family. More food, more Catch Phrase, and don’t forget the naps! We would spend the entire day with my family – up until midnight, some years. I always thought the day after Christmas was so quiet and lonely, after spending two days surrounded by loved ones!

However you celebrate the holidays, I hope you enjoy them and have a lovely time with your families, friends and loved ones. I know I will be!

Have a lovely weekend,
Anne
