Halloween Sweet Treat Pail DIY!

halloween-5
It’s almost time for Halloween and all of the goodies that come with it! Here’s a great way to display your favorite Blossom Bucket Halloween item and your holiday treats!

For this project, you will need the following supplies:

  • tin pail
  • Styrofoam block
  • black shredded crinkle paper
  • assorted wrapped candies
  • hot glue & gun
  • Your favorite Blossom Bucket item(s)

Step One:

We started with this fun Halloween pail purchased at a local craft store.

Tip: You can easily create your own pail! You can start with a solid black pail or paint one black all over. Then, add a pattern in orange using a stencil or, for the very talented, paint it free-hand. Even something as simple vertical stripes would be very festive!

Step Two:

Using a block of Styrofoam, or anything that will be sturdy enough to support your Blossom Bucket item, glue it to the bottom of the pail in the center with your hot glue.

Tip: Anything sturdy that fits in the pail, but doesn’t come all the way to the top and leaves a bit room around the edges will work. We turned an old planter upside down and used that!

Step Three:

With your hot glue, firmly affix the base of your Blossom Bucket figurine to the stand that you have created in your pail. Then, loosely fill in the edges around the stand with the black crinkle paper.

Pictured at right is our Pumpkin Girl with Lantern (096-82390), but we also used our Skeleton Man with Bat (096-82391) shown above. Both pieces are designed by Robin Davis.

Tip: Try not to overfill your bucket with the crinkle paper. You do not want to fill it all the way too the top, but you may want to have a few strands that hang over the edges a bit.

Step Four:

Tip: Use several different kinds of candy with varied wrappers to add more color to your project!

Step Five:

A final tip: Don’t be afraid to let your project “spill over” a bit! Leave a few strands of crinkle paper trailing out of the pail, and sprinkle some of your candy around the base!

Enjoy your treats and have a very Happy Halloween!

This is so cute and seems easy enough that I think my seven year old niece would like to help make it. She loves crafts and would enjoy the reward of ‘taste testing’ all the candy for me.
