Cookies, Costumes, and Christmas Shopping!

Hello! Happy Friday!anne-cookie
Can you even believe we’re into October already? It’s one of my favorite months. In a couple of weeks, I’m going to head over to Grandma’s house to bake Halloween cookies with all the ladies in my family. It’s one of my favorite days in the year!

anne-cookiesYesterday, I started setting out my Halloween decorations around work. I have a candy dish that is Frankenstein’s head, and you put the candy in his mouth! Everyone in the office looks forward to his presence… and the candy, of course! We even have orange Christmas lights that we string up. Can you tell that Halloween is one of our favorite holidays here at The Bucket? I’m still undecided on my costume, but I’m sure it will be a good one. After our Halloween lunch party, I’ll be sure to put up some pictures of the costumes.anne-cookies-2

I know that last Friday I mentioned starting my Christmas shopping. Did you believe me?

You should have!

I’ve totally started the madness that is Christmas shopping. I found some wonderful Christmas ornaments for a friend and one of my many cousins. Two presents down, about two thousand more to go… It feels like that sometimes, that’s for sure!

Last year, I braved the horrible weather and snow and went shopping on Black Friday with my Mom. I have to admit that I wouldn’t mind skipping out on it this year! Have you started your holiday shopping yet? Do you have any “tricks of the trade” to getting your shopping done as early as possible? I would absolutely love to hear them! Maybe, just maybe, I will be done in time to sit back and actually enjoy December instead of rushing through it!

I just don’t bake as much as I used to so I’d like to place my order for some of the adorable cookies…lol. This year though I am making the Halloween cupcakes for my niece’s school party. You should see all the cute Halloween cupcake papers!

And I, too, started my Christmas shopping.

There’s just something fresh and new the cooler weather and fall colors offer.

There is something about the hustle and bustle of black friday that I actually like. Call me crazy but it’s the one time I actually don’t mind being packed like sardines while I shop! And for some deranged reason, the snow makes it more special to me!

I haven’t actually bought anything yet, but I have already started my list. I have 3 down, and like you said, a billion to go!

  4. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It’s so nice to have family time for the holidays!

What adorable cookies!! Very creative! Sounds like you have a great family and wonderful family traditions!!

Even though you had horrible weather and snow on Black Friday and you probably had to get out of bed before dawn, I’m sure it was a very special day spent with your mother. I’m sure she loves spending time with you, regardless of the time or weather conditions!!
