Blossom Blogger’s Tools of the Trade

I have two very different sets of tools at home. The first is your typical set of household tools: hammer, pliers, screwdriver, etc. And, while I cannot take credit for the “personalization” of these items, atools-1nyone who sees them knows immediately to whom they belong. Like Cindy with her bright pink drill, I never have to worry about someone else using my tools; they’re purple!

I was lucky enough to be able to purchase them this way, so the burden of marking them as my own did not fall to me. They even came in a coordinating black and lavender carrying case. Who says tools can’t be fashion forward?

These, however, are just my standard tools. They are not what I would refer to as the “tools of my trade,” despite how much I enjoy using them. My “trade” could cover a lot of different things, but for the sake of today’s entry, we’ll call it writing. And, when writing at home, I primarily work on my laptop. This tool I have personalized in every imaginable way, from the color of the cover to the desktop background, all of the software colors and styles, and everything in between.

laptopMy old laptop, which I just replace about six weeks ago, was covered in stickers and decals, both on the cover and inside around the keypad. Unfortunately, I was only able to transfer one of these to my new machine, so the personalization of this tool is ongoing. Once again, I never have to worry about someone else wandering off with this tool of my trade; not only is it purple like my other tools, it’s also password protected!

I don’t supposed it’s too obvious what my favorite color is? ;)

I hope that in the coming days we will hear more and more stories about “what lengths” you are willing to go to protect the tools of your trade! Whether they’re household items or things you use at work or in your business; for students, maybe it’s something you need for school; or anything else that fits the bill, we’d love to hear about it!

Don’t forget that our first twenty participants will have a $25 donation made to the American Cancer Society in their name in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Send me your stories at BlossomBlogger@BlossomBucket.com, and help up support this worthy cause!

Keep an eye out on Twitter and Facebook for more updates!

Have a great weekend!
