Light up birthdays with more than just candles! Create a personalized Light-Up Birthday Block!
For this project, you will need the following supplies:
- 1 glass block with a pre-cut opening
- 2.5 yards of 1.5″ ribbon
- a favorite photo
- plug-in string lights with white wire/cord
- shredded crinkle paper
- 1 sheet colored paper
- scissors
- hot glue gun
- your favorite Blossom Bucket Birthday Celebration item
Step One:
Keeping the size of the glass block in mind, select your favorite photo. A standard wallet size (approximately 3.5″H x 2.5″L) fits perfectly!
Once you have your photo, choose a complementary sheet of solid color paper and create a mat for your picture.
Step Two:
Now, with the opening of the glass block at the bottom, glue your matted photo to the inside of the glass block.
Step Three:
| Next, add the lights and crinkle paper behind the photo. Fill the glass block from edge to edge, and use the crinkle paper to cover any visible wiring. |
Step Four:
Cut a length of ribbon to cover the entire perimeter of the glass block, and glue it down. |
Step Five:
| Use the remainder of your ribbon to create a bow for the the top of the glass block. When creating and gluing your bow, be sure to leave room on the top of the block for your Birthday Celebrations item! |
