As I was checking out my calendar to see how many days I have to play around with getting my Dad an awesome Father’s Day gift, I noticed that this Sunday marks the official start of SUMMER. Can you even believe that? I think it still feels like it should be April! Time flies!
I know that for my family, summer time means family time. We bake together, we can veggies and fruits and salsa together, we go on little weekend trips together, and we love to go hiking around the state parks nearby.

Summertime = Hiking Time!
A few weekends ago, my aunt and I checked out the open air flea market over in Rogers, Ohio. It is HUGE!! We found some awesome finds, and some neat ideas for craft projects. Since we also do a lot of our own canning, we like to support our local farms and we buy the majority of our produce locally at either flea markets, or farmer’s markets on the weekends. The two foods that we can the most of are salsa and pickles. We use a recipe for the pickles that uses garlic, hot peppers, and dill… they are delicious! We always run out before it’s time to make them again. Do you can? If you would like any recipes, just let me know!
Another thing we all do every time we’re together – which is about once or twice a month – is cornhole. I’m not the best player by far, but it’s always a good time… even for my dog, Tito. Unfortunately, he thinks we are playing “doggie in the middle” and he tries to catch the beanbags and guard them.

Have a great weekend! Stay cool!
